Animal Control Policy Exception Request Form


Please complete this form to request an exception to UO’s Animal Control policy.


The Animal Control policy does not apply to the following:


•  Animals the University may be required to allow under state and/or federal law, such as service animals.


• Assistance animals (also known as, emotional support, therapy and companion animals) authorized to be in limited, specifically identified campus locations as a disability-related housing or employment accommodation approved by the Accessible Education Center or Office of Human Resources through Workplace ADA.


• Animals used by law enforcement or emergency personnel in the exercise of their official duties.


• Animals used in authorized academic programs, teaching or research at the University.


• Residents of the University’s East Campus Housing and University Housing full-time live-in staff and Faculty in Residence only may keep authorized pets within their residence hall apartment or rented property.

Risk Mitigation Planning Questions


Please provide details regarding the animal(s), health, behavior considerations, as well as health and safety considerations.

 

 

Example: Our event will have 5 puppies from a variety of breeds and sizes. OR Our event will host one Llama.

UO custodial services does not provide this service. Departments must agree and confirm they understand they are responsible for confirming that the vendor will maintain and clean up after the animal(s). Any damage to grass, lawns, or UO property may result in a property claim. Departments may be responsible for the first $5,000.00.

 

Please include the mechanism for collecting and disposal of urine & feces.  


Disposal to garbage containers used or serviced by research animal facilities staff is prohibited. Disposal to in-building garbage containers is prohibited.

Prior to submitting this request, you must provide the documentation that this initiative has been reviewed and approved by your department head, or director.
